Promoting Education and Spay/Neuter

Funds are running low. We operate strictly off of donations. The money goes to help the Salem Animal Shelter, for assistance on spays and neuters, and education. If you can make a donation, please use the click on Memberships and Donations link, print the form and mail in a donation. Your help is greatly appreciated.

HUMANE SOCIETY MEETINGS ARE THE THIRD TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH AT 7 PM IN THE SALEM UNITED METHODIST CHURCH BASEMENT LOCATED ON THE CORNER OF HIGH AND MARKET STREETS.

"He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men. We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals."
-- Immanuel Kant

Goals and Programs

Print out spay/neuter assistance application. For Washington County Indiana residents only.

Donations and Membership_ We cannot continue our spay/neuter assistance and educational efforts without money. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. We also need people willing to support us by giving us a little of their time.Even the best fund-raising efforts cannot be successful without people willing to help organize and work them.

Salem Animal Shelter- Animals in the shelter updated at least every Monday. For lost pet or adoption information, call 812-883-3673. Shelter hours are 4 pm to 6 pm Monday through Friday and 8 am to 1pm on Saturday. It is located at 204 W. Joseph St. Also visit Southern Indiana Save a Pet's site for listings of animals available at other Southern Indiana Shelters.
Needs list for Salem Animal Shelter-There has been a freeze on our budget for the last two years. Also some costly repairs and maintance has used up a lot of our budget. We all know the animals need fed, therefore that is what is donated the most often. We definately appreciate the food and do need donations of food, however it takes much more to operate the shelter and our money for even simple supplies such as light bulbs is gone. Click on this link to see our most urgent needs. Volunteer form.
